I’m am always delighted when a company makes a feature or product that I didn’t even know I wanted. For instance, in the few years several car companies have started adding keyless car entry that unlocks the vehicle without me having to dig the key out of the bottom of my bag. When I learned of this, the first thing I thought was, “A woman designed that feature.” The second thing? “I need that!”
Golf bags have significantly changed too and we are benefiting from women (and a few very savvy men) creating products that women could really use and would want to buy. Here are three companies that have caught my eye for their sense of style and commitment to innovation.
Glove It Golf Bag
Karen Lovcik, founder of Glove It, started the company 10 years ago in her home as a hobby and is a pioneer in creating golf accessories exclusively for women. The Signature Collection includes golf bags and accessories in three metal finishes – Obsidian, Platinum, and Mixed Metals. These cart bags have numerous pockets as well as a slot for your umbrella and sell for $249.95. keri's "Kate" Golf Bag
Keri Murschell founded keri golf in 2003 to combine her hobbies of design, golf and travel. Her golf bags, totes and head covers come in bright patterns or simpler colors such as taupe (although the taupe and navy would fit nicely into any fall wardrobe). Kate and Sarah, two cart bags from the 2011 collection, have 7 external pockets, 14 full-length dividers for your clubs and silver polished zipper pulls. The nylon material is stain, water and pilling resistant. Matching head covers, a bag tag and a detachable valuables pouch are included. Cutler Golf Bag
Cutler Bags are a great example of fashion and function. Their golf bags have external compartments for your driver and putter, inside pockets for your sunglasses and phone, a removable shoulder strap as well as an insulated cooler section. The valuables pocket is velour-lined and there is a detachable wallet for tees and scorecards. Each bag also has coordinating accessories such as travel bags, shoe bags, and cosmetic cases.
