MiC Sportswear is the latest fashion venture from founder Melba Lee. Drawing on years of experience in the fashion industry as a photographer, designer, and boutique owner, Lee was driven to design a “smart and sexy” women’s golf fashion company that celebrates our curves and styling. “Ever since I started playing golf…I was fascinated with the possibly of incorporating my couture design edge [into] a golf collection,” says Melba via email. While she has been working on MiC since 2007, the collections are now available to consumers with the debut of the company’s e-store and website, MiCSport.com.
MiC's Knitwear Separates
Melba Lee’s choice for a classic and neutral color palette of sand, black, and white make the separates easy to match or interchange. They are form-fitting and use both high-quality knitwear and stretch cotton blends that can be worn with either pearls or hoops. With such a mixture of fabrics, the line is well suited to different climates, including finicky Seattle, where MiC is based. As a result, it reminds us a little of the recently more modern St. John, the design house originally made famous by its simple and elegant knitwear dresses and suits. While not as expensive as St. John, MiC is definitely higher end with most shirts starting at around $150.
The line has smart details that really make a difference in how comfortable you feel wearing it. For example, the skorts and shorts are available in either a high-rise or low-rise waist and the caps have a slit, so ponytails can be worn higher or lower on the head. Most items are available in sizes 0 – 14 and should be dry cleaned.
MiC Sportswear can be seen in action on LPGA player Paige Mackenzie. “It’s exciting that MiC is now available for purchase. I have enjoyed wearing the clothing this past year on the LPGA tour because of it’s fit and fashion,” says Paige.

The Summer 2011 collection is available for pre-order now at MiCSport.com and shoppers can get a sneak peak at the Fall 2011 collection. MiC will also be available at trunk shows and pro shops countrywide. Note: The skirts in the images are shorter than those for sale on the site.
